 | 9 4 2  | 5   38   38 | 1  7  6  |
 | 3 8 6  | 2   7    1  | 59 59 4  |
 +--------+-------------+----------+
 | 8 2 3  | 6   19   7  | 4  19 5  |

Play this puzzle online at the Daily Sudoku site

but you still need one of the two XY wings (139 or 138) on offer to finish it off.

Happy New Year Earl (and all)

				| Like a kid with a new toy, I am still finding fascination with Keith's "interesting boxes". In this instance the candidate (1) appears in four interesting boxes; 5, 6, 8, and 9. These are arranged in a rectangle. After identifying all strong links on (1) it becomes clear that the cells r5c4 and r9c8 will act as pincers on 1, thus making r9c4<>1.
 cheers...immp

				| After identifying the rectangular pattern of interesting boxes for a chosen candidate, identify ALL strong links for the chosen candidate, in ALL boxes. Then begin looking for an X-Chain for the chosen candidate using the strong links. The endpoints will be pincers on that candidate.
 cheers...immp
