I found a two step solution: | Quote: | ER 9 with hinge in box9 and strong link in row5,

then a w-wing 45 in r1c8 & r7c1 with strong link 4 in col9. |

				| I used the 149 XYZ-Wing, but don't know that it affected anything. There was a potential DP on 18. Of the three ways to kill it, one led to an invalidity. Then a 1 got removed from one of the cells based on a hidden UR and that finished it. |

I used 4 steps, but they are all very easy steps:

149 xyz-wing

5 skyscraper

7 x-wing

4 skyscraper |

Although NR puzzles have the potential for very difficult techniques being present, the majority of my NR puzzles are often VH puzzles with XYZ-Wing, URs above Type 1, and/or moderate techniques like Skyscraper, 2-String Kite, and/or Empty Rectangle.

Variety of techniques present is of higher priority in NR puzzles than use of very difficult techniques. The XY puzzles often require more difficult techniques.

BTW: You'd be surprised how many solutions for my puzzles fail to include an important XYZ-Wing. Congratulations on finding it in this puzzle. |
