Hi,
I am still very new at solving the puzzles, but normally I do not have much difficulty with either the easy or medium.
However, the medium puzzle from Oct. 18 has my pretty stuck...I can only get relatively few entries and get completely stuck. I was wondering if there was a technique/strategy that anyone used to solve this one - and if its maybe one that I havent learned yet.
Thanks :)

It would be easier to offer helpful hints if you would indicate just precisely where you are when you get stuck.
Regardless -- the big early break in this puzzle, for me, came when I realized that the pair {3, 8} must occupy the cells r7c1 & r8c1 -- I made steady progress after that.
To see that this is so, one must first place the "3" at r5c2, and fill in the "6" and the "2" in column 3 -- these are all pretty simple moves, so I suppose you've already found them. Now notice how the {3, 8} pair in both column 2 and row 9 intersect in the bottom left 3x3 box -- you'll see that the _only_ cells where this pair can fit are r7c1 & r8c1, as asserted. dcb |
