Forgive the slightly flamboyant display but sometimes a picture tells a story (I hope).

You can view this in a few ways - I will mention a couple.

1)A simultaneous enactment of a couple of overlaid Y Wings

They have a common anchor cell or jumping off point in r1c2 which is coloured red. The key elimination cell r3c3 is blue.

Link r1c2 with the pink cells and r3c3 <> 7
Link r1c2 with the green cells and r23c3 <> 9

2)AN ALS pair eliminating 7 and 9 from r3c3. (Does anyone sniff a death blossom ?)
The restricted common for ALS pink is 9 so the common candidate is 7 and the restricted common for ALS green is 7 and the common candidate is 9.

R3c3 must be 4.

In plain language, whichever candidate you start in r1c2 (either 7 or 9), there is a double elimination in r3c3 leaving only 4.

Beginning with Mogulmeister's grid I used the following chain:

(1=9)r9c2 - (9=7*)r1c2 - (7=1)r6c2 - (1=9)r4c3 - (7*9=4)r3c3 - (4=5)r3c7 - (5=9)r3c6 - (9=7)r5c6 - (7=1)r7c6 => r7c3 <> 1; stte.

Play this puzzle online at the Daily Sudoku site

using the 179 wing in box 1 and 4 gives r1c58 <> 9
then XYZ 189 wing in box 2 and 3 gives r2c6 <> 1

I am so pleased that you are doing what you're doing Immpy. I used to hang out here in the old days (search for details!) As Keith said, this was one of the few civilised Sudoku hangouts. It is a broad church with room for all abilities. Pencil and paper wizards and solvers sat side by side.
