This offered loads of possibilities. The first solution I noted was a Sashimi X-Wing on 4 in r18. Another Sashimi is on 1 in r19. Both potential DPs 17 in b39 and 18 in b58 have r7c5=9 as a common outcome. Also a Skyscraper on 1 in c58. Plus I'm sure there are others.

Marty seems to have covered most of the VH type moves so I felt obliged to look for more complex patterns such as a

anp(16=4)r8c78-r1c8=(4-1)r1c5=r9c6; r8c46<>1

My Grid is the same as yours.
The fin in BOX 2 is in r1c5.
The given 8 in BOX 2 breaks the corner of of our proper x-wing if it was not for the fin in r1c5 mentioned above.
If the fin was not there and the given candidate 8 has a 4 plus other candidates we would have a proper x-wing on 4 in col 59 which would allow us to remove the 4 in r2c4.
Now , if r1c5 is 4; r2c4<>4. If r1c5 is not 4, then 4 must be in r7c5 otherwise col 5 will have no 4, so, r7c9<>4, then, 4 must be in r2c9; r2c4<>4.
I don't know whether my explanation is clear enough.

Clement, I'm sorry but I'm unable to follow the explanation, although your logic is probably sound since the elimination is correct.

However, let's review what we're talking about, namely, the 4s in c59. There are just two 4s in each column, thus there is no fin. This is a standard Skyscraper in which either r1c5 or r2c9 must be a 4. For examples of Sashimis, see the 4s in r18 and the 1s in r19. Note that in each, one box has two occurrences of the number in question.
