Well, it turns out that doesn’t work because it is not a MUG!
Here’s what I’ve learned about MUGs from someone a lot smarter than I:

"There must be either a) 2 cells in each of 3 boxes, or b) 3 cells in each of 2 boxes. If you reduce them to (one of six possible) BUG-Lites, you'll see why."

The “second” MUG I thought I saw is not a MUG by these rules, because if one is trying to confine the pattern to two boxes it has to contain three cells in each box.

That clears up the second MUG (mine), it’s bogus. Still working on the first, and learning a thing or two along the way Smile
